What are the charges against Hunter Biden?

Hunter Biden has been charged with and will plead guilty to 2 tax-related misdemeanors.

  • From 2017-2018, he allegedly received over $1.5 million in taxable income annually, but failed to pay over $100,000 owed for each year.

  • But during the investigation, he reportedly paid off more than $2 million in tax debt.

Biden has also been charged with a felony relating to the purchase of a handgun.

  • He purchased a handgun in Delaware in October 2018 at a time when he was addicted to crack cocaine.

  • The purchase form for the gun shows that Biden lied on the form by answering “No” when asked: “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”

  • The investigation began when his sister in law, Hallie Biden, threw the gun into a garbage bin for him, and then returned to retrieve it at Biden’s instructions. The gun was eventually recovered.

What does this plea deal mean for Biden?
